Duncan Stewart to make his Nationwide Tour debut on Thursday

June 4, 2008

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Former JU golfer Duncan Stewart will make his debut on the Nationwide Tour this week at the Rex Hospital Open in Raleigh, N.C.

Stewart made the event by shooting a six-under par 66 in the Monday qualifying tournament at the Keith Hills Country Club in Buies Creek, N.C., home to 2009 Atlantic Sun Conference men's golf championship.

During his career at JU, Stewart made three trips to the NCAA Regionals - going as an individual in 2005 and 2007 while leading the team to the postseason for the first time in 2006. He set the school record for most individual tournament titles with eight during his career, including back-to-back A-Sun Conference titles in 2005 and 2006, joining PGA Tour players Hal Sutton and Colin Montgomerie as well as Nationwide Tour player Josh Broadaway as the only players to accomplish the feat.

A native of Scotland, Stewart has taken up residence on the First Coast as he turned professional late last year.
