HIGH SCHOOL: Two-year starter as a pitcher and outfielder for Gil Morales at Eagles View Academy as a junior and senior after spending his first two years as a pitcher and third baseman for Jerry Holland at Paxon High School...as a senior, he earned third team all-state and team pitcher of the year honors after leading the Warriors to a state title with a 9-3 record, a 1.98 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 72.2 innings on the mound...also batted .300 with 14 RBI at the plate...as a junior, he was named third team all-state and team pitcher of the year while leading the team to the state finals with a 9-2 record, 2.38 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 61 innings...also rated 179 out of 200 in Baseball America's top 2007 High School prospects...as a sophomore at Paxon, he went 4-1 with a 2.13 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 48 innings while hitting .314 with 12 RBI and six sacrifice bunts at the plate...as a freshman, he batted .256 with four sac bunts and nine RBI while going 2-0 with two saves and 24 strikeouts in 20.3 innings...in AAU play, he was a member of the Jacksonville Warriors with current Dolphin teammate, Kyle Fleming...named Valedictorian at graduation.
