Natasha Harvey earns second team academic all-district honors
June 5, 2008
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Natasha Harvey of the JU women's outdoor track & field team was named to the ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District women's track & field second team, the College Sports Information Directors Association announced on Thursday. The junior long jumper will be competing in the NCAA Championships this weekend in Des Moines, Iowa after taking first-place in the long jump at the NCAA East Regionals with a leap of 21-03.75" on March 30. "Natasha is a great representative of Jacksonville University, our athletic department and our team," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "She has set lofty goals for herself as a student and as an athlete. She has received a lot of notoriety for her athletic achievements but this honor is well deserved recognition for her accomplishments as an academic leader for our program." Harvey, an exercise science major from New Haven, Conn. has a 3.43 grade-point-average and earned All-America honors after finishing third in the long jump at the 2008 NCAA Indoor Championships. Harvey is also the president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at JU. |
