  • The MEN'S BASKETBALL program is back to its winning ways with 49 wins over the past three seasons, the most in 10 years. JU, which has made five NCAA postseason appearances, still remains the smallest school by enrollment to have competed in the NCAA Championship Game, as the Dolphins took on powerhouse UCLA in 1970. Former JU greats include Artis Gilmore, one of the most dominating centers in NCAA history and a 12-year NBA veteran, as well as Dee Brown, who won the 1991 NBA Slam Dunk Championship and played 11 years with the Celtics, Raptors and Magic.

  • JU basketball coach HUGH DURHAM recently became just the 32nd NCAA Division 1 coach all-time to achieve 600 career victories, while his 603 career wins rank 9th among active D-I coaches. Durham is also one of just 11 coaches to have taken two different teams (Florida St., 1972 & Georgia, 1983) to the Final Four.

  • The 2002-03 school year marked the return of SOFTBALL at JU. The Dolphins, who competed in slow pitch softball from 1976-84, sported their first fast-pitch softball squad under the direction of head coach Jeff Franquet, a former softball national champion. JU won 23 games during its inaugural campaign and captured two tournament championships.

  • The Dolphin BASEBALL program has made six NCAA Tournament appearances in the past 12 seasons, including three in the past five years. JU, which annually plays some of the nation's top teams such as Florida, Florida State and Miami, also captured the 1999 and 2003 Atlantic Sun Tournament Championships. Head coach Terry Alexander, who served as an assistant coach for Team USA Baseball in the summer of 2002, became JU's all-time winngest coach in 2003. The Dolphins have had 87 players sign professional contracts.

  • JU WOMEN'S SOCCER has established itself as one of the top programs in the region in just eight seasons, having competed in the A-Sun championship game in four of the past five years. In 2000, the Dolphins won the Atlantic Sun Championship with a perfect 9-0 league record and competed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time after winning a school-record 19 games.

  • The JU FOOTBALL program captured the Pioneer Football League Southern Division Championship in its first season in the league in 2001. The Dolphins, which are entering just their sixth season of intercollegiate football at the NCAA Division I-AA non-scholarship level, finished the 2002 season ranked 18th in Don Hansen's Weekly Football Gazette I-AA Mid-Major Poll.

  • The JU ROWING programs are rich with tradition, having captured eight national championships at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta. In addition, the Dolphins have regularly competed at the Head of the Charles in Boston and the Royal Henley Regatta in Henley, England. Former JU rowing coaches Francisco Vayacava and Ted Swinford have represented the United States at the Summer Olympic Games, including a gold medal by Swinford at the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles.
